January 11, 2013. A great man was lost. Aaron Swartz, 26. An internet activist, computer programmer, writer and so much more. He revolutionized the world wide web. At just fourteen he helped create the RSS 1.0 specifications. Co-founder of Reddit. A man who fought for the freedom to connect, and founded “Demand Progress” to fight against the SOPA and PIPA bills. Let’s take the moment to remember the depression he battled. Let’s remember the “felonies” he committed (making aprox. 4 million ACADEMIC JOURNALS available on the internet) for the sake of letting other people be able to read and learn some of the things from MIT. He risked himself for a 4 million dollar fine and about 50 years in prison. to enlighten people. Let’s remember that we only cared when it was too late, and take it as a lesson for the future. His life was one terribly short lived. A great man was lost.
“He used his prodigious skills as a programmer and technologist not to enrich himself but to make the Internet and the world a fairer, better place.”
